We invite parents and families of our A-School students to join us at Campbell Hall to kick off Family Weekend (11.07– 11.09). Meet Dean Malo A. Hutson, our distinguished alumni awardee, our Student Affairs team, faculty, and student ambassadors, and participate in hands-on activities, tours, and information sessions. Lunch provided.

    • The Land is Full: Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects
      This exhibition highlights work by landscape architecture firm Nelson Byrd Woltz (NBWLA), whose senior principal  and owner Thomas Woltz, FASLA, is an alumnus of the UVA School of Architecture, with graduate degrees in architecture and landscape architecture. The exhibition, and its accompanying book, celebrates NBWLA's practice of revealing cultural and ecological histories embedded in the land and transforming them into meaningful public spaces.

    • The Poetics of Immanence: China Summer Program
      Chinese gardens in the Jiangnan region offer deep insights into what designing the environment can mean. This exhibition features the work of faculty directors Shiqiao Li and Esther Lorenz and their students from the 2025 UVA School of Architecture's Summer in China Program — an exploration of design concepts and strategies that emerged by visiting both traditional and contemporary gardens.     • Questioning Through Drawing: Vicenza Summer Program
      Drawing is at the core of a designer's work as it actively combines the processes of observation. The UVA School of Architecture Vicenza Program, that takes students to the heart of the Veneto region of Italy, centers drawing as an instructive process that when combined with a concerted effort to seek out, question, and document connections, serves as a powerful tool to maintain positive and creative output. This exhibition highlights students' sketchbooks from the summer 2025 study abroad Vicenza program, complimented by photography.

    • NIL_The Banks: A Glimpse into the Tidelands of North Carolina
      The Natural Infrastructure Lab (NIL), directed by Associate Professor Brian Davis, works to develop innovative natural infrastructure that enhances human and ecological health over time. This exhibition features ongoing research into place-specific nature-based infrastructure for bays and estuaries supported through a partnership with Engineering with Nature (EWN).

    • Select Work from the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient, Zena Howard
      Each year, the School's Deans Advisory Board votes on an award recipient that recognizes a distinguished alum of the School. This year's winner, Zena Howard, FAIA, NOMA, LEED AP (BSArch '88), is Principal Managing Director at Perkins&Will's North Carolina practice, where she has shaped an extraordinary career defined by visionary, complex, and culturally significant projects like Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African American History and Culture. Howard shares her architectural work with Perkins&Will this through this exhibition.

    • Selected Works by Letitia Huckaby
      Acclaimed photographer Letitia Huckaby uses portraiture to explore African American heritage and pay homage to enslaved ancestors and their descendants. Learn about the artist’s research-based practice—a reexamination of history and its connection to the contemporary black experience.
