Chinese gardens in the Jiangnan region offer deep insights into what designing the environment can mean. With the theme of The Poetics of Immanence, Shiqiao Li and Esther Lorenz directed UVA School of Architecture's Summer in China program, exploring with students conceptual originalities and design strategies by visiting both traditional gardens and contemporary designs.
