Biography

Trevor Kemp draws on his engineering background to engage in creative problem solving and interdisciplinary collaboration, bringing along a passion for making, tinkering, and design. Before joining the School of Architecture, Trevor co-founded a medical device company focused on miniaturizing magnetic resonance technology, and prior to that, worked on creating biologically-inspired robots, such as a robotic manta ray for underwater exploration. He also pulls from experience in project management, mechanical building design, and teaching in several capacities, including experiential travel-based learning. Trevor is a “double-Hoo” (two-time alumnus of the University of Virginia), earning his PhD in mechanical engineering in 2014. When he’s not in the lab, Trevor enjoys exploring the great outdoors.
