Biography

Dan Meyer is the inaugural Morven Sustainability Lab Fellow and an Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture at the UVA School of Architecture. In this role, Meyer teaches graduate foundation studios in landscape architecture, a core course in the EcoTech sequence, and a research seminar focused on land-based research practices sited at Morven, a 2,900 acre living landscape laboratory. As the 2026-28 Morven Fellow, Meyer will connect the pan-university UVA Morven Sustainability Lab and the School of Architecture through his teaching and by directing field experiments and creative land management at Morven.

Prior to joining UVA, he was a Senior Research Associate at the Landscape Infrastructure Design Lab (LIDL) in the Auburn University School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture. As a member of LIDL, he worked on multiple federally funded grant projects addressing challenges of sea level rise adaptation through innovative coastal infrastructure design. His graduate research focused on the spatial, experiential, and management dimensions of forest parks and urban forestry initiatives. Prior to his time in landscape architecture, Meyer worked in book publishing where he edited a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction titles, including a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.
