Facilities

The pages which follow detail the presence and accessibility of a number of types of facilities within the Thomas Jefferson Planning District. Included in the analysis were senior centers, assisted living facilities, hospitals, libraries, schools, grocery stores, pharmacies, places of worship, and emergency facilities. For each of these areas, the facilities themselves were mapped as were average travel times for residents of a specific census tract to reach a certain facility. In addition, the aggregate times were mapped, indicating the total time required for all residents of a census tract to reach the facility in question.

A variety of data sources were utilized in mapping the different types of facilities. Telephone directories and other web-based resources were commonly used to obtain listings of certain types of facilities within a locality. In addition, the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission provided helpful data in locating certain types of services. Only those facilities located within the boundaries of the planning district were included in subsequent analyses.
