Personal Safety & Emergency Services

Student Escort Service

The Student Escort Service was created in an effort to improve safety at U.Va. It offers students, staff and faculty transportation after dark. All you have to do is call 9+964-6400 and tell the shotgun rider (student who accompanies the officer driving the van) where you need to be picked up and taken. You will be quoted an estimated time in order to minimize your wait outside. The Escort Service runs within a one-mile radius of the University.

Police & Fire

Dial 9+911. Give your location as Campbell Hall at Rugby and Culbreth Roads.

First Aid

The most frequent injury is a hand cut. To stop bleeding, apply pressure and keep hand elevated; go to Student Health+ for treatment. First aid kits are available on each studio floor by the elevator and in the woodshop.

Medical Emergencies

In an emergency or life-threatening situation, please call 9+911.

When Student Health+ is closed and you need to speak with someone regarding an urgent question or concern, care providers are always on call through the answering service number at 9+972-7004. Let the provider know if you have a medical concern or wish to speak to a mental health care provider. Please wait near a phone for a response.

If you have an urgent medical problem, you may receive care at the UVa Hospital Emergency Room on Jefferson Park Avenue. The Emergency Room is open 24 hours a day. If you are unable to get there, dial 9+911 for the Rescue Squad. Give your location as Campbell Hall at Rugby and Culbreth Roads.
