Academic Regulations
Advisors
All students are assigned an advisor upon entering the School of Architecture and are responsible for earning the appropriate number of credit hours necessary for graduation. If you are unsure of your advisor’s name, inquire in the Student Services Office (Campbell 120A).
academic good standing
A student must remain in academic good standing in order to make timely progress toward their degree. Undergraduate students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better and carry a full course load of 12 hours or more. The minimum passing grade for a graduate student is B-.
course load
The minimum course load, in order to be classified as full-time, is 12 hours for a undergraduate student and 9 hours for a graduate student. Special written permission is required for an undergraduate student to register for fewer than 12 hours or more than 17 hours in any semester, from his or her advisor.
ownership of student work
The School of Architecture reserves the right to retain student course work for purposes of exhibition and/or publication with appropriate credits. Faculty who wish to retain student work for their own purposes must gain students’ consent and provide adequate documentation of the work for the students.
participation
Formal reviews are an integral part of a student’s training in architecture; consequently, there are few tenable reasons for missing a review, and the professor must be notified of the reason for an absence. An unexcused absence from a review is deemed by some faculty as grounds for failure.
