Topics
After looking at the equilibrium of forces acting on a single object, the inquiry can continue
in two directions:
- Upward abstraction: The equilibrium and transfer of forces among assemblies of objects.
Framing Systems.
- Downward abstraction: The equilibrium and transfer of forces among portions of an object.
Internal Forces.
The next two lectures will move downward in abstraction, looking at internal forces. Then we'll
move upward in abstraction and spend a lecture looking at framing systems.
