Update
Construction began in late June 2006 with the east and south additions expected to be completed by summer 2008. The landscape redesign will be completed soon thereafter.
As of April 2008: In the south addition, the slate siding is fully hung, millwork is complete and lighting fixtures are being installed. Electrical work is nearing completion. In the east addition, the soda blasting of the concrete exterior is complete. The installation of the curtain wall system continues. The ceramic tiles in the bathrooms have been installed and plumbing work is ongoing. In the next few weeks, stair railings will be put in place and HVAC work will continue.
The Building Additions
Since the original construction of Campbell Hall in 1970, the school’s life, and the occupant demands and expectations of its residents, have changed. Growth in the school’s faculty and student populations, changes to curricular structure and goals, the evolution of the underlying values held collectively by the members of the school community now necessitate additional space for varied uses. In the past two decades, the size of the student body has almost doubled, while the faculty has nearly tripled in number. The introduction of graduate programs in architecture and landscape architecture has additionally expanded demand for design space. Similar growth in the planning and architectural history programs now necessitates additional classroom and seminar space.

Design+Build Projects
In 1999, before the building additions commenced, Dean Karen Van Lengen initiated a program of Design+Build projects in and around the school. These projects, developed by faculty members in collaboration with students, build out the space around Campbell Hall.
