After Hurricane Katrina struck the U.S. Gulf Coast in 2005, hundreds of thousands of displaced residents were forced to live in transitional housing. Through a Jefferson Public Citizens program grant, two teams of U.Va. students are working to improve quality and availability of transitional shelters for future natural disasters.
