Set Up Your Computer

Connecting to A-School Network Resources

After your laptop is connected to UVA's network, you can set up your computer to access Architecture School resources.  This will connect you to the school's storage drives like Classes and ScanTemp, and to all of the student printers and plotters.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:

  1. Setup your Accounts and Login at UVA. (if you have not already)

NOTE: If you are not on-grounds, you will need to do Step 6 Connect to UVA WiFi anyway.  Please note that it will give you an error and not connect to UVA WiFi, and it will disconnect you from your home WiFi.  You will need to reconnect to your home WiFi to finish.  This is still necessary because Step 6 installs your Personal Digital Certificate and profile, which is needed for other things.

  2. If you are not on-grounds at UVA, please install the UVA Anywhere VPN (see below) BEFORE continuing to connect to the A-School resources. The VPN is required to connect to A-School resources.

After you have it installed, please run the Cisco AnyConnect program on your computer and Connect. This will connect you to the university to get access to A-School resources.

CONNECT TO THE A-SCHOOL'S STORAGE DRIVES AND PRINTERS:

CONNECTING FROM OFF-GROUNDS:

UVA ANYWHERE VPN

If you're off-grounds in an apartment, at home in China, traveling to Venice, or just went to your parents for the weekend and need access, you will need the UVA Anywhere VPN.  This makes your computer act like it is on-grounds and lets you connect to drives, printers, the library, and lots of other useful things at UVA when you managed to escape grounds for a little bit.

Got it!
