University of Virginia: School of Architecture

Three projects by recent Master of Architecture graduates have been selected to receive Honor Awards in the 2010 Washington UNBUILT Awards Program. The program recognizes excellence in theoretical, academic, and other projects that to date remain unbuilt.

This year’s jury chose from over one hundred submissions to select fifteen honor awards and one grand prize winner. Of the sixteen total winners, there were seven students, three emerging architects, and six professionals.

UVa’s honor award winners included:

Jana Vandergoot, for Wild Food, Water Wells, Location Markers: a study of the body in an environment of food, completed under the direction of faculty advisor William Sherman;

Alexandre Garrison and Ryan McEnroe, for UVA Center for Innovation, completed as part of William Sherman’s studio; and

Maggie Hansen and Suzanne Mathew, for Baltimore Water Works: Hydrology as Adaptive Infrastructure, completed as part of Jorg Sieweke’s studio.
