Cass Kawecki (MArch’01), Lecturer in the Department of Urban and Environmental Planning, recently played a major role in shaping future development in downtown Charlottesville. Kawecki, a vice president with CB Richard Ellis, along with his colleagues Carolyn Shears and Andrew Boninti (Col’75), represented the CFA Institute in the site selection process for a global operations center in Charlottesville. The site selected is a 136,000 square foot portion of the Martha Jefferson Hospital downtown facility, which will be redeveloped into LEED–Certified, Class A office space. The deal represents the largest office occupier real estate transaction in the Charlottesville market in several years, and brings a major employer to downtown.
