Folded Growth: Explorations in Networks and Spatial Geometries
6 weeks

This is an exploration of spatial geometries that evolved from considering the construction of a transit station on a site with a steep grade change. When considering the dramatic topography of the site, I was intrigued by the idea of considering a train station as a node in a network, and applying that concept of a network as a way to navigate the topographic changes. I simplified the network to a sequence of edges along regular polygons. Through a series of models, I explored the spaces that different sets of polygons can create. I was constantly challenged by reconciling the geometries of structural surfaces with the ground. The intent was to blur the distinction between the structure of the train station from the ground which it unfolded.
