New Faculty: Brian Osborn

Visiting Lecturer, Department of Landscape Architecture

 

For two years beginning in fall 2012, Osborn will be a visiting lecturer at U.Va. through a Virginia Teaching Fellowship. He comes to U.Va. from Rutgers University, where he has taught landscape architecture in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences since 2008.

 

Osborn, who is trained as an architect and a landscape architect, is the director and founding partner of BOTH Landscape and Architecture—a multidisciplinary design firm with offices in New York City and California’s Bay Area. Osborn is also a visiting assistant professor in the School of Art and Design (Interior Design Department) at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. He previously worked as a designer for SYSTEMarchitects in New York, NY, and as an associate planner/project manager/lead project designer for RRM Design Group (based in San Luis Obispo and San Clemente, CA).

 

Osborn’s work and research foci include the development of project-specific material assemblies and novel techniques for craft within the built environment. He holds an MArch from Pratt Institute’s School of Architecture and a BLA from the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. He participated in the Career Discovery program at Harvard Graduate School of Design prior to earning his master’s.
