Personal Statement

Zaneta Hong is a lecturer at the University of Virginia. She is also a member and landscape designer for General Architecture Collaborative, a multidisciplinary design firm that works collaboratively with non-profit organizations, NGOs, co-operatives and like-minded individuals towards the design and strategic implementation of culturally specific architecture, landscape, urban design and planning. Prior to her appointment at UVA, Zaneta worked as the Materials Lab Curator for the University of Texas in Austin School of Architecture, where she designed and developed the on-line materials database - http://soa.utexas.edu/matlab. Zaneta has worked for the Harvard Graduate School of Design Materials Collection researching landscape material systems and technologies. Her research has appeared in the publication, Living Systems: Innovative Materials and Technologies for Landscape Architecture and the following websites: GSD Materials Collection: www.gsd.harvard.edu/materials On Asphalt: http://www.onasphalt.com Her experience includes work as the principal landscape architecture coordinator for the Harvard Career Discovery Program, and landscape designer for Landworks Studio (Boston, MA) and Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates (New York, NY). Zaneta attended Cornell University before completing her B.F.A. in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and a M.L.A. at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
