UVA School of Architecture welcomes Andrew Kudless, Associate Professor at the California College of the Arts and founder of MATSYS, this semester to lead a design-build workshop and studio titled THE WORLD IS FLAT. Co-taught by UVA’s Michael Beaman, Assistant Professor of Architecture and Melissa Goldman, Fabrication Lab Manager, students will design and develop a full-scale pavilion, LUMINA, on the Lawn to be presented during the University’s Bicentennial Celebration in October. The studio and project explore the structural, programmatic, and construction issues and opportunities that accompany surfaces with double curvature.
