Doctoral Student Receives Fulbright Award
Burak Erdim (MAH’04, MArch’05), a doctoral student in the Ph.D. Program in the History of Art and Architecture has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright student scholarship from the U.S. Department of State to further his dissertation research in Turkey during the 2007-08 academic year. Harrison Professor Dell Upton serves as Erdim’s dissertation adviser.
Erdim’s dissertation, "Cultural and educational exchanges between the U.S. and Turkey in the post-WWII period (1950-64)," includes a special focus on the inception and foundation of METU (Middle East Technical University), in the context of Cold War politics in the Middle East and new directions in Modernism.
Erdim is one of 1,300 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad this academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
