Alumnus to Receive 2007 AIA Young Architects Award
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has selected Phillip G. Koski, AIA (MArch’94), of Inland Office for Tomorrow’s Architecture (IOTA), as one of six oustanding architects to receive the 2007 Young Architects Award for leadership in design and service to the profession of architecture.
Koski is a public servant, writer, advocate, and innovative entrepreneur in the Minneapolis area. He was appointed by the Minneapolis City Council to serve on the volunteer Historic Preservation Commission, which he currently chairs. He has contributed to Architecture Minnesota since 2001 and serves as chair of AIA Minnesota’s editorial committee that oversaw the redesign of the chapter’s publications.
In her letter of support for Koski’s nomination for the award, Julie Snow writes, “Phillip does everything with charm, humor, candor, wisdom, and a deep dedication to the profession and city in which we live … (he) defines a fresh and engaged version of architectural practice.”
Koski will receive the award at the national AIA convention in San Antonio this May.
