Illustrator Scripts + An Understanding of Javascript by Jessica Brown [add to thread/edit]

For my script, I know what I want to accomplish, and am working on how to accomplish it. I want to create a script that takes a word (string) and turns it into a shape. The number of letters will define the number of sides of a polygon (with a statement in case the number of characters is 2, that the script will create a line instead of a polygon) and the letters in the word will define the fill color.

The way I will do that, is make an if statement in a for loop for the length of the word. Something like (in a while loop, while a
When this is completed, I want to incorporate it into a bigger script that can handle more than one word. This shouldn’t be too difficult with a simple split function, and a while loop like with the charArray. The tricky part will be creating some sort of cool way for the resulting set of shapes to be arrayed. Also not sure how each word will determine the size. That might be the part the vowels play? The percentage of vowels within the word determine how big the shape is...not sure yet. This next week I’ll be starting to experiment with the actual script and can figure a lot of this out. It’s all totally arbitrary at this point, so what-ever looks coolest at the end will win.
