Elizabeth Fortune

Associate Dean of Finance & Administration

As the chief financial and administrative officer for the School of Architecture, Elizabeth Fortune is responsible for the management and allocation of the School’s financial resources, including state, local, endowment income, gift and sponsored program funds. She develops creative and analytical solutions to address emerging fiscal and organizational needs, directly supervises all business and administrative obligations and personnel, and serves as a senior member of the Dean’s advisory team.

Ms. Fortune has over 18 years of experience in higher education administration and has served in positions at the University of Virginia and the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. She also holds an M.B.A. from James Madison University and a B.S. in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama. In 1997, she was a fellow at the Sorensen Institute of Political Leadership at the University of Virginia.

Ms. Fortune serves the University of Virginia as a long-term member and former chair of the Financial Aid Committee and a sexual assault mediator for the Dean of Students office. She is a past-President of the Junior League of Charlottesville and currently serves on the Fluvanna County Economic Development Commission and the Fluvanna County Planning Commission.

In addition, Ms. Fortune holds certifications in General Mediation, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and as a Virginia Certified Planning Commissioner. She is also is a "Certified Barbeque Judge" of the Kansas City Barbeque Society.
