Program Manager, Institute for Environmental Negotiation
Caroline K. Wilkinson is currently Program Manager at the U.Va. Institute for Environmental Negotiation.
Ms. Wilkinson manages the Virginia Natural Resources Leadership Institute. This training program brings together leaders from the public and private sectors, advocates, and interested citizens to focus on collaborative processes for natural resource issues, leadership skills, and current environmental issues in Virginia. The program is the product of a partnership with the Virginia Department of Forestry and the Virginia Cooperative Extension.
Ms. Wilkinson also conducts research and analysis and facilitates public participation and consensus building around land use and environmental issues. She has participated in community visioning, land use and natural resources planning and the local, regional and state levels.
Her current projects include working with the City of Newport News and the Mattaponi, Pamunkey and Upper Mattaponi Tribes on the proposed King William Reservoir; and convening a regional green infrastructure planning workgroup.
Ms. Wilkinson’s research interests include the intersection of technology, culture, and environment; the concept and management of waste, land use decision making and policy, and participatory government.
Before coming to the University, Ms. Wilkinson worked on environmental impact review and community involvement in transportation projects at a planning firm in New York.
