Speaker: Catherine Lassen Type: Lectures & Symposia

Catherine Lassen is Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, Sydney and Principal of Catherine Lassen Architecture. Her work has been featured in the Venice Biennale (2008) and published in Architecture Australia, Architecture Bulletin, Monument, and elsewhere. As Project Architect for Leers Weinzapfel Associates, she led the winning competition entry for a major industrial building and baseball field for the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, which received numerous national awards (including 2001 A+U; National AIA Honor Award; 2001 Architectural Record (May); BSA Award, National AISC Award).

In 1995 she completed her MArch at Harvard and worked the following year for Rem Koolhaas/OMA in Rotterdam.  She has also curated an exhibition, ‘Glenn Murcutt: Thinking Drawing Working Drawing,’ in Tokyo.

Her lecture will propose some thoughts in relation to architectural works at different scales. The projects explore a time based complexity and the architectural potential of double readings.
