Lincoln Park, which honors President Abraham Lincoln, hosts a statue of Lincoln that was commissioned in 1876 and also a statue of Mary McLeod Bethune that was erected in 1974. The neighborhood citizens strongly identify with the park and frequent it oft en for both passive use and organized public functions. The section from the Park is comprised mainly of large, ornate row houses with wrought iron fencing that enclose the front yards. A large Episcopal church is located at the corner of 14th Street an d Massachusetts Avenue and serves as a civic anchor to the section.
