In InDesign you can crop images easily. (This is something that Illustrator does not do)

If you do not already have an image in InDesign place one into your document now. Click on the red left arrow below to learn how to place an image.

To crop an image you select on side of the bounding box and slide it in our out. The image does not change, but the amount of the image seen does. To learn how to fit images into the bounding box see the previous page of this tutorial.
