| The Department of Landscape Architecture at Texas Tech University is seeking applications for one full-time position beginning in the 2010-2011 academic year. Full-Time Tenure Track Position: The full-time position is a 9-month, tenure track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. An annually determined 3 month summer appointment may be possible. The candidate must have at least one accredited landscape architecture degree. MLA is required. Ph.D. desired and/or professional registration. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong interest, experience and achievement in teaching and research in landscape architecture and the ability to initiate, support and enhance knowledge and skill in undergraduate and graduate design studio. Maintaining a research specialization and collaborating with faculty colleagues is essential. The position requires teaching design studios, research in Landscape Architecture, service, student advisement (15-20 students), and committee work. Professional experience and registration is highly desirable. About the Department: The Department of Landscape Architecture offers an accredited undergraduate BLA and an MLA. The program is currently home to eight full-time faculty, 170 undergraduates, and 15 graduate students. The Department of Landscape Architecture at Texas Tech University is committed to preparing students to assume a leadership role in teaching, research, and professional practice in the demanding and continually changing profession of landscape architecture. The curriculum challenges students to develop professional and technological strengths in the creation, modification, and management of designed landscapes of all types, native environments, and natural resources. The Landscape Architecture Department is part of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) at Texas Tech University. Texas Tech University also supports an Interior Design Program in the College of Human Sciences and a College of Architecture. A close relationship between these programs is fostered by a joint course of Design Collaboration in which upper level students from all three departments engage in complex problem-solving within a single multi-disciplinary studio. About the Region: Texas Tech University is located in Lubbock on the High Plains region of the state. It is a city of over 200,000 that has never forgotten is old west roots and small town friendliness. This area is typified by gently rolling terrain and is known for its agriculture and ranching. | ||
