Description
The Department of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at North Dakota State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair. The position will be a full time appointment with the rank of full professor with tenure.

The Department is a vibrant part of downtown Fargo, located in two newly renovated buildings. One of the buildings was the first LEED certified building in North Dakota. We operate professional programs in architecture and landscape architecture and are contemplating establishing additional post-professional design programs. Serving approximately 600 students the department offers a 5-year Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree, a 5-year Master of Architecture degree and a 4-year Bachelor of Environmental Design degree.

Fargo/Moorhead is a very active community with a dynamic downtown, excellent education and medical care and three universities with a total student population of approximately 25,000. The department is very active in the life of the community and the region. We have a very strong tradition of service learning and a reputation for producing highly qualified and productive design professionals.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must be qualified by education and experience to administer programs in landscape architecture, and architecture, and other design disciplines. Candidates should have a) a professional degree in architecture, landscape architecture or an allied field with b) additional post-professional credentials or licensure that reflects depth and breadth of education, research, creative activity, and practice with c) substantial experience as a designer, researcher, practitioner, scholar, and/or university educator. Candidates must also possess credentials that merit appointment at the rank of Full Professor with tenure.

The Chair will be a leader capable of developing a dynamic vision for our design programs with our faculty and students and pursuing that vision throughout the world. We are an engaged academic community wishing to identify a creative leader with an open communication style, experience in administration, fund raising, team building, and a commitment to diverse peoples and ideas.

Preferred Qualifications: Professional registration and practice experience is an advantage as well as participation in national professional organizations. Additional credentials might include, a Ph.D., experience with the accreditation process, an exceptional portfolio of creative work, significant publications, or experience leading strong academic programs.
