| Position Summary: The Design Trust for Public Space is seeking a full time Director of Programs to manage all new and existing programs and related activities, under the guidance of the Executive Director. The Director of Programs should have a background in urban planning, public policy, architecture, sustainability, or other fields concerned with the design, development and utilization of public space. A Master's degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred. Responsibilities: • Act as lead project manager for all Design Trust programs • Manage external relationships and liaise with a variety of project partners and fellows • Solicit project proposals and manage a bi-annual project selection process • Provide overall strategic management and planning for all programs • Develop project timelines and manage daily operations of all projects • Develop and adhere to project budgets • Create fellowship descriptions, solicit nominations, direct fellow selection, and manage fellows' work process • Organize and manage all project-related meetings, workshops and public events • Create and deliver project-related public presentations • Manage outreach and relations with public and community partners • Manage the editorial development, graphic design, and production of project publications • Lead staff person for planning and budgeting related to all programs • Lead staff person for all program-related communications, including the development and maintenance of all language on the Design Trust website • Work in tandem with the Development Director on program fundraising and grant requests Qualifications: • Minimum of two years relevant work experience • Proven experience with strategic planning and project management • Strong verbal communication skills and experience making public presentations • Ability to multi-task and work in a close, team environment • Demonstrated writing and editorial skills • Ability to successfully manage external relationships and liase with a variety of project and program partners • Ability to think across disciplines and city sectors • Familiarity with current NYC urban design issues, landscape and government • Ability to manage multiple programs, events, and publications simultaneously • Exceptional organizational skills • Financial-management and budget experience, and data-analysis skills • Ability to attend workshops, meetings, seminars or other events in the evening, and occasional weekend • Computer expertise in database, spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software (such as Filemaker Pro, Excel, Word and Powerpoint) • Experience with Quickbooks, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and GIS applications is preferred, but not required • Genuine interest in the architecture, urban-planning and sustainable design community and a commitment to the mission and work of the Design Trust for Public Space | ||
