| Basic Function: Manage ULI Washington’s two main community outreach programs: the Technical Assistance Panel Program and the Urban Marketplace Conference and Expo. Participate in all aspects of the work program including but not limited to, sponsorship, committee support, membership outreach, communications, and others. Support the district council as needed with management of or assistance in all other programs and initiatives. Specific Responsibilities: Work as a member of a team to develop programming and initiatives that further the mission of the district council. Assist in the preparation of an annual program of work for the district council. Cultivate and execute the district council’s Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) program, including marketing the program; working with sponsors to help define the scope and shape panel issues and questions; identifying and procuring panelists; staffing the panel; and writing final reports. Working with the ULI Washington membership, facilitate the planning and execution of the district council’s annual Urban Marketplace Conference and Expo, including program planning, recruitment of speakers and exhibitors, and marketing and logistical support. Provide staff support to the TAP and Urban Marketplace Committees including scheduling and attending meetings, and providing necessary follow up on action items. Help identify funding opportunities through corporate sponsorships, grants, fees, and fundraising events to support the programs of the district council generally, and specifically to support the TAP and Urban Marketplace programs. Maintain content related to Urban Marketplace and the TAP program on the ULI Washington website, and write articles for the ULI Washington newsletter. Provide general support for other ULI Washington programs such as Case Studies, Breakfast Meetings, the Trends Conference, the Award Dinner, and Officers and Executive Committee meetings, and attend these events. Provide customer service to ULI Washington members on a daily basis. Communicate ULI Washington’s progress and initiatives with public, private, and non-profit organizations and the media. When appropriate, seek opportunities to expand strategic partnerships to advance the District Council’s mission. Attend early morning and evening events as needed. | ||

| Skills: The following skills are required to carry out the duties of the position: • Excellent oral and written communication • Ability to build relationships with ULI members to encourage their commitment and contribution to programs and initiatives • Proven project management skills and the ability to manage several projects at once • Creative and tactful negotiation and conflict resolution skills • Strong organizational and time management skills • Ability to initiate tasks and assume responsibility, and to work with minimal supervision in a high production position Experience: Five to seven years experience in the public, private or non-profit sector working on community outreach and communications in the area of land use and real estate development is preferred. An understanding of local and regional land use planning and real estate development issues, knowledge of key local and regional players in the field is desirable. | ||
