		C O N S T R U C T I O N:
	p h a s e    1: f a l l   1 9 9 9  more images	Detailing and material investigations were carried out during the fall semester 1999 on location @ Allied Concrete. 	p h a s e    2: s u m m e r   2 0 0 0  more images	The development of a prototypical bay of construction from one of the design schemes occurred during the summer of 2000. Class participants: Derek West,  Luke Phinney  Patricia Kucker (faculty), John Maze (faculty) The design of prototypical bay was profundly affected by the concept of a permanent site and this installation was then not simply a "test-panel" of construction. The politics and process of building on this site caused much thought for design modifications to what now would be simply referred to as the "work terrace." The precise building of wood formwork for the concrete columns resulted in greater consideration of the aesthetic aspects of the column.  A foundation wall formed with metal re-usable forms was set, poured and stripped within a few days. The craft of wooden forms for the canopy columns took several weeks in design and construction. Assembly of the two-part forms on the site and the process of three consecutive pours was challenging.
	p h a s e    3: s p r i n g  2 0 0 1  more images	Work completed over the summer accomplished the concrete work, stone terrace and placement of paralam beams.  The beams were purchased almost a year prior! The focus for the spring seminar class was on the use of aluminum and the design and construction of a canopy, work tables and a railing for the entrance from the school building to the work terrace site.
