Casey joined Perkins+Wills in 2018 to lead their civic building strategy globally and oversee best practices for the design of public spaces and buildings. Prior to this, Casey spent two decades at the State Department, most recently serving as the Director of Design Excellence at the US Department of State and the US General Services Administration. He was responsible for fostering excellence in federally commissioned architecture and design nationwide. He was the first Associate Director of Van Alen Institute, a leading architectural and urban design research center in New York City. He is also a fellow of the Design Trust for Public Space, where he co-authored “Reclaiming the High Line,” the study that led to the elevated park on Manhattan’s West Side. He is a former principal in the design consulting firm of Jones|Kroloff, where he assisted numerous universities, cultural institutions, and civic organizations in crafting or strengthening their design and construction initiatives. Mr. Jones has worked in architectural firms in Washington, DC and New York City. He has taught urban design at Columbia University, the University of Michigan, and Parsons School of Design and is a regular visiting critic at architecture schools and professional organizations.
