ZENA HOWARD TALKS (BLACK) ARCHITECTURE

BS Arch, 1988

Zena Howard (BS Arch, 1988), the managing and design director of Perkins + Will’s North Carolina practice, was recently featured in Dwell Magazine’s (Black) Architecture article which raises issues of diversity and race in the profession and features pioneering leaders in the field. Howard is currently in the process of rebuilding Charlotte Brooklyn Village, once Charlotte’s largest, thriving, and economically stable African-American community, and now “destroyed,” as Howard says, “by urban renewal.”
