Annual Giving
Annual giving is an essential component of our fundraising efforts each year. The School's annual fund-raising enterprise is truly the backbone of institutional support. It provides unrestricted gifts which contribute substantially to the annual operating budget. By reaffirming your commitment to the School each year, contributors help provide resources for everything from student scholarships to computer technology to library acquisitions to student work study.
We ask our alumni to consider making a reunion gift every five years in honor of their reunion year. Classes compete to raise record amounts, and every gift counts toward percentage of participation. The U.Va. Phonathon program provides alumni the opportunity to pledge their reunion gift over the phone and speak to current University students.
UNRESTRICTED GIVING
Unrestricted giving from the School's alumni, parents, and friends goes into a dean's discretionary fund and is used to support a variety of special initiatives including student scholarships, studio travel, joint faculty and student research, and a distinguished lecture series here at the School of Architecture. We are grateful for any amount you would like to contribute.
Members of the Dean’s Forum, the group of benefactors providing a critical level of support for Dean Van Lengen's use, commit at least $1000 on an annual basis. There are two levels in the Dean's Forum: Individual Membership ($1000), and The Professional Circle ($2500).
The University recognizes four levels of giving within its Rotunda Society: The Pavilion Level ($2,500-$4,999), The Serpentine Level ($5,000-$9,999), The Colonnade Level ($10,000-$24,999), and The Dome Level ($25,000 and up).
RESTRICTED GIVING
Many specific funding opportunities exist at the School of Architecture. Included are student support, faculty support, and named lectures.

PLANNED GIVING
Planned gifts enable individuals to benefit the University in the future and sometimes, to meet personal financial needs today. Planned Gifts can provide significant tax benefits as well as lifetime income for the donor and even the family of the donor. A planned gift can be as simple as naming the School of Architecture as a beneficiary in your will. If you would like to know more about making a bequest or other planned giving opportunities like creating a charitable remainder trust, gift annuity, unitrust, pooled income fund or life insurance policy, please call the Office of Planned Giving at 800-688-9882 and ask for Melanie Benjamin.
