Computer Requirement

One of the costs of education today is owning a personal computer. Computer use is required in a growing number of courses. Academic life at the university is also increasingly dependent upon personal computers for communications, scheduling, research and personal work. All Incoming students to the School of Architecture are required to provide their own personal computers and should consult the School of Architecture Computing Web Site for recommended specifications. Note that these are updated each summer and so should be examined a few weeks before arriving at the University.

The University provides many software packages, such as for virus protection, for free. The University also makes educationally priced software and hardware available to students. This option, noted on the web site above, can be explored along with other potential suppliers. Additional resources, including computer labs, imaging, scanning, and printing facilities are available in the school. These facilities are important supplements to personally owned computers. A required computer orientation is held for arriving students at the beginning of the academic year.

See Computer Recommendation for details on what to bring or buy.
