Course Description

This short seminar, for students in the Venice studio, will consider the history of Venice and the Veneto, and the interaction between landscape and architecture. It will focus on the period 1400-1600, a formative one for the city. Particular issues discussed will include urban development, the relation between city and countryside, architectural theory of the city, and the changing role of architects in designing urban spaces and buildings.
