Rotch Traveling Scholarship
The Rotch Scholar is chosen annually through a two-stage design competition. Each of these stages is judged by a separate jury composed of several distinguished architects and other professionals, usually including a former Rotch Scholar. The first stage is a weekend-long preliminary competition that requires entrants to create a design in response to a specific architectural problem posed by the Scholarship Committee. The preliminary jury then evaluates the entrantsÂ’ designs in terms of their creative potential to determine which candidates are best qualified to fulfill the goals of the program.Disciplines:

Qualifications: The main criteria of the Rotch scholarship juries is to search for evidence of imaginative capacity in the design projects submitted. Applicants must possess a degree from an accredited U.S. school of architecture and one year of full-time professional experience in a Massachusetts architecture firm OR possess a degree from an accredited Massachusetts school of architecture and one year of full-time professional experience in any architecture firm.
Application Requirements:
To apply and to be eligilbe for the Scholarship, candidates must be U.S. citizens under 35 yrs on Jan 1st of the competition year.

Amount: $35,000 for a minimum of 8 months of travel and study abroad including a payment of $3,500 upon the completion of the Scholar's travels and the submission of a satisfactory report which becomes part of the permanent archives of the Scholarship.
