Title and Credits
ARCH 7210. Structural Design for Dynamic Loads. 3 credits.
Format
One 1.25 hour lecture and one 1.25 hour lab meeting per week The course is
required for Path A and Path B graduate students.
Meeting Time and Place
MW 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM. In general, Wednesday meetings will be in room 158;
Monday meetings will be in room 105. Special meeting times will be announced.
Prerequisites
ARCH 624 or equivalent: knowledge of basic statics, mechanics of materials,
and structural system design
Objectives
The course aims to give each student a grasp of the general theoretical and
practical issues involved in designing buildings to resist wind, earthquakes
and other dynamic loads. The course seeks to develop the ability
to develop scematic designs of structural systems and work productively with technical consultants.
