Land Use Analysis for Future Plans
An evaluation of the current land use allows one to determine the locations of current health and social services facilities, vacant parcels, and other opportunities for development as well as those communities that lack necessary facilities. Such an evaluation allows one to discover the locations in which facilities are needed, and even allows one to specify the exact location in which facilities, senior housing, parks, and other services would have the greatest benefit. An evaluation of the current land use and parcels offers an opportunity to catalogue the landscape and plan for supporting the aging population in the future.
Unfortunately, evaluating the landscape to support the aging population in the future is only possible, at this point, in Albemarle County and the city of Charlottesville. Land use data from the remaining counties in the Thomas Jefferson Planning District is necessary for a thorough evaluation of the land use opportunities, constraints, and limitations. Without data from the remaining counties, an evaluation of the current land use is insufficient and does not readily allow one to guide the future landscape of the aging.
